We are delighted to announce that ALAS have been awarded an incredible £20,000 of funding.
This money will strengthen lipspeaker training and improve the lipspeaking service. Lipspeakers support deaf people who prefer to communicate by clear lip-pattern and borrowed British Sign Language (BSL) to support the meaning. There are currently just 46 registered Lipspeakers in the UK, 25 who are members of ALAS – we endeavour to up-skill those lipspeakers and help them professionally develop as much as possible.
Thank you to the National Lottery players for making our project dreams possible!
