Association of Lipspeakers (ALS) Website Withdrawn

The Association of Lipspeakers with Additional Sign (ALAS) has been informed that the Association of Lipspeakers (ALS) website has now been withdrawn.

Following enquiries made during recent weeks, it was confirmed that the ALS steering group had resigned and that ALS was no longer operating with an active steering group or membership structure. The decision has now been taken to remove the ALS website from public view.

For lipspeakers, deaf people, employers and agencies seeking professional information or support, ALAS is now the only active professional association dedicated to supporting lipspeakers across the United Kingdom.

ALAS continues to:

  • promote high professional standards;
  • support the continuing professional development of lipspeakers using additional sign;
  • provide guidance and resources for practitioners;
  • support deaf people, employers and agencies in accessing appropriate communication support; and
  • represent and promote the profession nationally.

We would like to acknowledge the contribution that ALS made over many years in promoting lipspeaking and supporting the development of the profession. As the profession continues to evolve, ALAS remains committed to providing an active, transparent and professionally led association for registered lipspeakers.

We warmly welcome enquiries from registered lipspeakers, trainee lipspeakers, agencies and members of the public who would like to learn more about our work or become involved with ALAS.
